Congratulations

We offer our prayer and blessing

to the Principal and Staff, Families and Students

and Alumni

of

Saint Louis School

as it celebrates its centennial.

May all who enter its doors continue to be filled with revelations of God’s love.

Thanks for the Get Well Wishes!

Fr. Bob would like to thank all those who sent him cards of get well wishes while he was recuperating.  You were all kind to do so.  God bless all for their prayers.

"If any one comes to me without hating his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple." - Lk 14:26-27

The Question of the Week
September 2nd, 2007

After hearing, reading and reflecting on this Sunday’s readings…

During this past week, when did you ask for forgiveness of someone?

Discuss it over a family dinner!
Talk on your way to the mall!
Make it a weekly household tradition!

Blessing of the Animals

On Saturday, October 6 at 10am, Deacon John will be conducting a Blessing of the Animals in honor of the feast day of our Patron, St. Francis of Assisi.  The blessing will take place outside in the small plaza in front of the church.  All species welcome!

Widow and Widowers Social Support Group

The next meeting of the Widow and Widowers Social Support Group will be held on Sunday, September 16 from 2-4pm in the Parish Hall.  All are welcome!

 Saint Vincent de Paul

Today, September 9, we celebrate the feast of Blessed Frederic Ozanam, the founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.  The Mission Statement of the Society states:  “Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice…the Society makes no distinction in those served because, in them, Vincentians see the face of Christ.”

Have you considered answering the call to help serve the poor by donating to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?

A Note From Sr. Irene

Since its debut on September 3, 1907:  In all the research made, we find Cecile Brodeur, class of 1926, as the oldest living graduate.  As a resident of d’Youville Manor, Cecile will not be able to attend our Centennial activities.  Yet, she assured us that her niece would represent her.   If you know any earlier than 1926 living graduate, please let us know.

Our Lady of Good Counsel School

Our Lady of Good Counsel School, a pre-K to Grade 8 school, formerly known as St. Augustine School, located in the Tower Hill section of Lawrence is pleased to announce that we still have a limited number of openings, especially in kindergarten, for the 2007-2008 school year. Our Lady of Good Counsel School recently partnered with MIT through the MIT@Lawrence program to provide an enhanced science and math learning experience that will include “field trips” to the MIT campus in Cambridge.

In an effort to further enhance the science ad technology based educational experience at Our Lady of Good Counsel School, we also recently purchased new science textbooks for the entire school and thirty new Dell desktop computers to help our children remain competitive with other local schools in terms of science and technology curriculum standards. Our Lady of Good Counsel School is also able to offer scholarships to qualified families. Please call the school today at 978 682-9761 for further details.
